Consolidator Grant 2014

The European Research Council (ERC)

The European Research Council (ERC) has again selected top scientists in its Consolidator Grant competition.
On the list this year is IEMR-researcher William E. Louch (Bill).
ERC Consolidator Grants are designed to support researchers at the stage at which they are consolidating their own independent research team or programme, to give opportunities for young investigators to develop independent careers and make the transition from working under a supervisor to being independent researchers in their own right.

Well done, Bill!

Annual Report IEMR 2014

Cover IEMR 2014

I am pleased to present the Annual Report from Institute for Experimental Medical Research (IEMR) for 2014. In 2014 two important grants were started up at IEMR - a Regional Health Authority grant to Professor Geir Christensen and a grant from the Research Council of Norway to Professor Ivar Sjaastad. These grants allowed recruitment of new people to IEMR. Also other smaller grants allowed us to hire new PhD students. Altogether we had the pleasure of welcoming 17 new people to IEMR in 2014. This means that there is now a core staff of 66 people at the institute and an additional 15 employed other places do their entire project or parts of it at IEMR. Thus, we have an interactive environment and can offer access to infrastructure and provide important competence to scientists both within and outside the hospital.
