Theresa Olasveengen received the Max Harry Weil Award 2012 during the American Heart Association Conference in L.A.
The Max Harry Weil Award honors the memory of Max Harry Weil, MD, PhD, considered the “father of critical care medicine” and a pioneer in 3CPR science. This award was established in 2012 and acknowledges the accomplishments of young investigators and to encourage investigators to continue their research in biomedical sciences relevant to the mission and scope of the 3CPR council.
Theresa Olasveengen received the award during the annual council dinner at AHA Scientific Sessions in Los Angeles, USA last November 6, 2012.
Fredrik Swift received the Oslo University Hospital's price for Outstanding Research Article

Fredrik Kiil 90 Year Anniversary
Professor emeritus Fredrik Kiil, M.D., Ph.D. (29. september 1921-) . Head of Institute for Experimental Medical Research (IEMR) 1962 - 1991.
Fredrik Kiil was borne in Narvik, Norway and graduated from University of Oslo in 1948. Ph.D. Oslo University 1958. He became specialist in internal medicine in 1961, and served as Head of IEMR 1961 - 1991. Fredrik Kiil was visiting professor at University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, Dallas, U.S.A., 1961.
Fredrik Kiil pioneered the development of the artificial kidney and his version, first produced at the IEMR, found use in many countries throughout the world. His extensive medical research activity covers ureteral, renal and cardiovascular physiology.
Awards: Anders Jahre's Prize for Medicine 1980. National Kidney Foundation Dialysis Pioneering Award 1982 (U.S.A.). Knight of the Order of St. Olav 1991

The Norwegian Council for Cardiovascular Diseases has honored professor Geir Christensen for his research on the importance of hormone production in the heart, and his efforts to establish the Center for Heart Failure Research. His Majesty King Harald presented the Heart Prize 2011 to Geir Christensen at an award ceremony in Oslo.

After a long period with a lot of construction work at the Institute, the new laboratory facilities on 4th floor are now ready to use. We have also got new offices and new operation theaters on 5th floor.
